| New Color Card Printer is Compact, Easy-to-Use and More Cost-Effective than Existing Products |
CAMARILLO, Calif., October 6, 2005—Zebra Technologies (Nasdaq: ZBRA), a worldwide leader in card printing and bar code labeling solutions, today announced the newest addition to its Value Line of card printers, the Zebra P120i. A dual-sided color card printer based on a completely new and innovative design, the P120i is priced as much as 20 percent below comparable printers in its class. “The P120i changes the game in card printing,” stated Bob Anderson, Zebra Card Printer Solutions director of marketing. “Today, most people cram everything they can onto one side of the card, leaving the back side blank. Now with the P120i they can affordably create much more effective ID and membership cards that use both sides of the card for photos and information."
Ease-of-Use Features The P120i makes double-sided printing easy with an intuitive, user-friendly design. Zebra i Series® intelligent supplies and software make P120i printer setup quick with ribbon type detection and automatic configuration for highest-quality card printing. User convenience features include the Load-N-Go™ drop-in ribbon cartridge with integrated cleaning roller, an LCD message display and an integrated card output hopper that can be folded into the enclosure to avoid being lost or damaged when not in use. The top-loading card input feeder holds up to one hundred 30-mil cards and is designed for user convenience. Users can reload cards without interrupting the printing process, and the feeder has a translucent cover for monitoring blank card consumption. Zebra i Series software drivers for Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP provide plug-and-play operation and compatibility with most applications. As with all i Series printers, the P120i uses Zebra TrueColours ribbons. Zebra’s color formulation produces superior print quality and a more accurate range of color reproduction. The ribbon system also features wider ribbons for better edge-to-edge printing in a convenient drop-in ribbon cartridge.
Printer Options The P120i will be available with optional magnetic stripe encoding. With this factory-installed option, users can encode high-coercivity (hi-co) and lo-coercivity (lo-co) magnetic striped cards. One-at-a-time card feeding and printing is easy with the P120i’s CardSense™ single-card feed. With this easily installed option, users simply insert a single card into the front of the printer, just as on an ATM machine. The card is pulled into the printer, printed and encoded, then returned to the user from the front of the printer. This front-feed and -exit design is particularly important for retail applications such as personalized gift and membership cards.
Pricing and Availability The P120i will be available beginning October 31, 2005 at authorized Zebra card printer resellers worldwide. In the U.S., the manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $2,895 (€2,395).
