Zebra Technologies P320i/P420i Card Printers Feature Built-in Ethernet |

| Flexibility, Efficiency and Reliability Result from New Networking Option |
CAMARILLO, Calif., April 6, 2004 — Zebra Technologies (NASDAQ: ZBRA), a worldwide leader in bar code labeling and card printing solutions, today announced that organizations large and small can plug in the Zebra P320i and P420i card printers anywhere on their local area networks, from the front lobby to the security office. External Ethernet components are finally eliminated, and printers can be managed from anywhere on the network.
With the new built-in Ethernet capability (provided as a factory-installed option), users obtain greatly enhanced operational efficiency, especially for large facilities with multiple printers such as casinos, resorts, and membership clubs. Having multiple printers on the network allows printing to continue while a ribbon is being replaced on one printer. This redundancy increases overall system reliability; since any PC can print to any card printer on the network, there can be immediate rollover to working machines in case of technical issues with a PC workstation or a printer.
Card printing flexibility is also substantially increased by network connectivity. For example, a PC workstation creating identification cards can now be located in a different room or in a different building from the card printer. Or, a card printer can be located near high-volume workstations yet be shared by users who only occasionally print cards and who are located in other areas. This flexibility is important for human resources departments, retail, cruise lines and public venues.
With built-in Ethernet, card printer users save time, simplify the installation process and preserve valuable counter space. “Given the cost of people and workspace, the simplicity of Zebra’s solution offers significant benefits,” explains Bob Anderson, marketing director, Zebra Technologies Card Imaging Division. “There are no external boxes, no power bricks and fewer cables, and setup is extremely easy. The savings in setup time and desk space make internal solutions the best choice.”
The P320i provides single-sided card printing, while the P420i offers dual-sided printing. Both models are intelligent, robust card printers with LCD display and security features such as programmable passcode and hardware key lock. For more durable, secure cards, the printers support optional TrueSecureÔ varnish image printing. Both feature Zebra’s revolutionary i-functionality, which simplifies card printing via automatic driver configuration, intelligent color optimization and a special RFID system for ribbon image counter and ribbon low notification. Besides high-resolution graphics, the P320i and P420i print bar codes and offer optional smart card contact station and magnetic stripe encoder.
