Zebra Technologies Introduces New Robust, User-Friendly, Full-Color Eltron Brand Plastic Card Printer At CardTech 99 |

CAMARILLO, Calif., May 11, 1999 — Zebra Technologies Corporation (Nasdaq: ZBRA), the worldwide leader in bar code and plastic card output solutions, today introduced its new Eltron P310 full-color plastic card printer at the CardTech/SecurTech Conference in Chicago.
The Eltron P310 is engineered with several new features, including a new 32-bit processor, 2 Mbytes of image memory and 512Kbytes of Flash memory, a ruggedized polycarbonate frame, high capacity auto-synchronized ribbon system, and a simple-to-load, self-cleaning, low-maintenance design.
Capable of producing single-side, high-resolution, full-color, edge-to-edge printing, the Eltron P310 provides ultra-sharp 300 dpi resolution for precise, readable bar codes, ID photos, graphics and text. The P310 can print on a wide variety of plastic card thicknesses from 10 mil to heavy-duty 60 mil cards, at a rate of over 140 full-color cards per hour, or one every 25 seconds.
A space-saving 11.8" by 7.7" footprint means the P310 occupies less counter space than a typical shoebox, making it ideal for desktop or countertop applications.
Installation and systems integration are easy using the Microsoft™ Windows™ drivers and card design software provided with each unit. The Eltron P310 options include a "non-scratching" magnetic stripe encoder and smart card contact station for card applications that require encoded information. The P310 is also available with an optional RS232C serial port.
"Our market research told us that users wanted a card printer that was easy for anyone to operate and maintain, with very little training," said Holly Sacks, vice president of marketing for Zebra's Eltron Card Printers . "Of course, it also had to print superior quality color plastic cards, and it had to be fast. 'Easier, better, faster' became our engineering team's design theme for the P310, and I'm pleased to say we achieved all our objectives".
The Model P310 is simple to set up and use. Printer ribbon synchronization is automatic, eliminates the need for operator intervention. An easy-to-change card cleaning cartridge thoroughly removes dust before cards are printed.
"With the Eltron P310 printer, we have strengthened our position in the card printer market and are now even better equipped to capitalize on the explosive growth in the issuance of on-demand plastic cards both in the U.S. and worldwide," remarked Sacks.
Applications for the P310 include personalized customer loyalty cards, ID cards, employee badges, visitor badges, club membership cards, phone cards, library cards, retail gift certificate cards, access control cards, hotel door keys, business cards, luggage tags - virtually any application where a single-sided personalized plastic card is a better solution.

Pricing/Availability
The Eltron P310 card printer is scheduled to begin shipping in June. List price of the basic model is $2,895. The Eltron P310 card printer features a full one-year printer warranty, including one-year free hot-swap service for units installed in the United States. An optional extended multi-year warranty program is also available.
