Eltron Selected to Provide ID Badges for MOSIS ’98 Annual Conference of Educators |

SIMI VALLEY, Calif., July 16, 1998 — Zebra Leading designer and manufacturer of thermal label and plastic card printers, Eltron International, today announced it has been selected to provide ID badges for the MOSIS ’98 conference in collaboration with Datacom Systems, Atlanta division. Datacom, an Eltron Business Partner, is providing software and image capture capability for the project. Eltron’s P Series P300 card printers will be used in pre-registration and registration to print the name of the attendee and their school on an ID badge. Datacom will also demonstrate photo ID badge printing with Eltron’s P300 and P400 card printers at the conference.
MOSIS ’98 (Management of Student Information Systems), sponsored by the Southern Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (SACRAO), in Raleigh, North Carolina, July 19 - 22, provides an opportunity for higher education professionals interested in information systems and technology to share information and exchange strategies in a casual setting.
Primary uses for Eltron’s card printers in higher education include student ID cards for access control to campus facilities, membership cards and on-demand printing of smart cards for electronic purse applications. Eltron’s 100,000 pass printhead warranty, sharp 300 dpi print resolution and standard Windows™ drivers and card design software come with the P300 and P400 printers. Options include magnetic stripe encoding and smart card contact stations.
"Schools are concerned about security. Student ID cards with access control technology enable administrators to provide a safe environment on campus. The cards can carry information to serve as debit cards so students don’t have to carry money. They can serve as card keys to provide controlled access to dorms and class rooms and to monitor class attendance," said Patrice Foliard, Eltron’s senior vice president of sales and marketing. |
