| Eltron’s Max3000 Secure ID Printing System Provides Maximum Security for Delegates and Attendees |
SIMI VALLEY, Calif., July 7, 1998 — Leading designer and manufacturer of thermal label and plastic card printers, Eltron International today announced its collaboration with 3M Verifications Systems in providing photo ID security badges for the third Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministerial Meeting on the Telecommunications and Information Industry (TELMIN3) held in Singapore, June 3-5.
Eltron and 3M™, along with Digital Imaging software, provided more than 1,000 on-site photo-identification security badges to attending ministers, senior officials from APEC member countries and representatives from the business community. Photo images of all attendees were captured digitally and stored directly onto a database. The badges were printed with Eltron’s Max3000 printer on 3M Secure Card media.
"The system was set up to provide participants at the conference with efficient, secure and hassle free registration while providing maximum security in a highly tamper resistant identification card. This conference is about utilizing new technologies to better facilitate technology transitions into the Information Age. Eltron’s collaboration with 3M is a good example of how Eltron’s plastic card printers are providing solutions in security and photo-ID applications," said Patrice Foliard, Eltron’s senior vice president of sales and marketing.
Eltron’s Max3000 Secure ID Printing System integrates a print station, laminator, die cutter and optional encoder/sorter all in one system. Using dual print processes, the Max3000 prints one card while a second card is being laminated and die cut at the second station. Printing can be monochrome or full color with images, text, and both 1D and 2D bar codes, including PDF 417 from Symbol Technologies.
The unique lamination/thermal fusing process of the Max3000 printer and the 3MTM Secure Card material seals the printed images and personalized data inside the card. Once fused, the layers cannot be separated, providing maximum security, tamper resistance and long term durability.
In addition to its durability, the 3MTM Secure Card offers three compromise-resistant security features: visible verification, retro-reflection and an ultra violet logo embedded within the receptor film. Tampering attempts result in destruction of the card. Because of the card’s maximum security and tamper resistance it is ideal for such applications as national IDs, driver’s licenses, health insurance cards, debit cards, access control cards, and any other application where durability and security are specific concerns.
3M is a USD $15 billion diversified manufacturer serving an array of commercial, industrial and consumer markets. The 3M Verification Systems Project is a full-line supplier of security laminates and authentication labels, along with secure identification card systems. |
